Universal milling machine FWA-41M –
general overhaul

Frezarka uniwersalna FWA-41M – remont kapitalny 2023

General overhaul of the universal milling machine FWA-41M, manufactured by MECHANICY PRUSZKÓW, was completed in January 2023. We restored the machine to 100% efficiency, equipped it with a single-turn vertical head, steady rest and digital position readout in 3 axes.

BASIC TECHNICAL DATA OF THE FWA-41M UNIVERSAL MILLING MACHINE:

  • Total table area: 2000 x 400 mm
  • Manual/mechanical longitudinal travel: 1070/1060 mm
  • Manual/mechanical cross travel: 360/350 mm
  • Manual/mechanical vertical travel: 440/430 mm
  • Spindle taper: ISO 50
  • Max swivel angle of the table: ±45°
  • 10kW main engine

Universal milling machines type FWA- were produced by Zakłady Przemysłowe 1-go Maja in Pruszków from the beginning of the 1950s to the end of the 1990s.

The milling machine production plant in Pruszków was established in 1920 on the initiative of the Association of Polish Mechanics from America and from 1948 it operated under the name Zakłady Przemysłowe 1-go Maja until the 1990s.

FWA milling machines are conventional (universal) milling machines, considered to be one of the best milling machines, used in the heavy machining industry for unit, small-lot production consisting in milling: external surfaces, faces, cones, gears, keyways, spline channels, etc. from materials from steel, non-ferrous metals.

The advantage of the FWA milling machines is the very high rigidity of the machine tool due to the use of heavily ribbed castings in the production of bodies and large dimensions that enable the machining of details weighing 500 kg.

FWA milling machines have a swivel table that allows milling of helical grooves after turning and can be equipped with additional (special) equipment, i.e.: head for vertical and oblique milling, device for gears cutting, slotting head.

FWA milling machines come in various options of technical parameters depending on the type, e.g. FWA-32M, FWA-39M, FWA-41M.

The FWA-41M milling machines offered after a complete overhaul, made by the MultiMasz company in Bralin, do not differ in technical parameters from the parameters of new milling machines.

The scope of the general overhaul of FWA milling machines includes the repair of the mechanical part, the electrical part, the derivation of the geometry in accordance with the Technical Acceptance Conditions (WOT) and EN.
